Peter Erikson FAI President w

Peter Eriksen has been announced as the new FAI President at the 120th FAI General Conference, held from 14 to 16 October in Lausanne. The conference consisted of three days of ideas, connections. The FAI Forum explored “Shared Opportunities, Collective Solutions”, while the new NextGen welcomed younger representatives to learn, contribute and connect with experienced delegates.

Peter said, "I'm honoured to have been elected FAI President and grateful for the trust placed in me. I look forward to using my experience and knowledge to serve FAI and the wider air sports community.

"I want FAI to be a strong federation that continues to be the home for all air sports and supports their development worldwide. My priorities include reviewing our membership structure to reflect the different ways air sports are organised nationally. Working with our Members, Commissions and Secretariat, I also want to support both established and emerging air sports communities, increase visibility, continue improving safety and give sustainability greater attention."

Peter brings more than 50 years of flying experience and 37 years of involvement with FAI. A glider pilot who has competed at the highest level with the Danish national team, he has served as President of the FAI International Gliding Commission and Chairman of the FAI Statutes Working Group. An air traffic controller by profession, he also has extensive experience in aviation safety and international aviation standards.

Peter Eriksen succeeds Greg Principato, who decided to step down at the end of his term.
