The FAI/SGP management team are pleased to announce the award of the 13th series FAI SGP final to the CLUB DE PLANEADORES DE VITACUR in Chile.
The club de Planeadores de Vitacura presented an excellent bid which includes covering the cost of container transport from Europe to Viticura for all the competing gliders. The region provides an outstanding and stunning possibility for excellent sailplane racing and the airfield at Vitacura has excellent facilities for a Sailplane Grand Prix final.
The club has already hosted a very successful FAI/SGP final and held four FAI/SGP qualifying events. More information on the event and location will be published on www. sgp.aero in the coming months.
13th series 2026/7
The FAI Sailplane Grand team are preparing the programme and rules for the 13th FAI/SGP series which will be held in 2026 culminating in the 13th final to be held in January 2028.
The bidding process for qualifying events will take place in 2025 with the final dates for bids being the 31st October 2025.
The FAI/SGP final is a unique sporting event with live racing being followed by thousands of sailplane racing fans. Previous FAI/SGP finals over the last 10 years have developed new and exciting ways to showcase sailplane racing at it most exciting.
The 2025 final at St Auban will incorporate live on board cameras and pilot commentary, further developing the possibilities for race fans to enjoy the remarkable experience of racing purely on solar energy.
