After the tradtional International Night where all the teams serve delicacies of their countries the pilots enjoyed a manditory rest day. Now refreshed, they are ready to race.
Open Class
The Open Class has been set an AAT of 2 hours 30 minutes. The maximum task distance, comes to 596.13 km, with a nominal figure of 421.30 km sitting between the two. The course takes gliders south-east from the start line at NOTRTH15K out to KORYTN, which has a generous 35 km radius cylinder, then west to CZASTARY with a 33 km cylinder, before turning east again to BOBROWN with a 20 km cylinder, and finally back to the finish at EPRU. The task has the characteristic out-and-return shape common on the Polish plain, requiring pilots to manage the large cylinders carefully to minimise distance while staying fast.
20 Metre Multi-Seat Class
The 20 Metre Multi-Seat Class is also set a 2 hour 30 minute task, with a nominal figure of 394.76 km. The course shares the KORYTN and EPRU turnpoints with Open Class but routes through DZIETRZKOWICE to the west, which carries a 35 km radius cylinder, and FERDYN on the return leg with a 20 km cylinder. The start line at NORTH5K is the shorter of the Open Class start, at 5 km radius. The overall shape is similar to the Open task — east, then west, then east again — though the distances between turnpoints are somewhat shorter, reflecting the performance characteristics of the class.
18 Metre Class
The 18 Metre Class has been set a shorter task duration of 2 hours, with a nominal distance of 353.52 km. Gliders depart from a start line at KOBYLCZYCE to the north-west of the airfield before heading east to KORYTN, then west to OZAR with a 32 km cylinder, back east to FERDYN, and finally to EPRU.
