Club Class
Aalen-Heidenheim/Elchingen, Germany, 4 August 2026
Task two for the Club class was an Assigned Area Task with turnpoints at Blaubeuren, the BAB-Kreuz A6A7 area, and Treuchtlingen before the finish at Aalen-EDPA, set for a task duration of two hours. The nominal distance was 165.11 km, extending to 317.44 km at maximum, with an optimised distance of 239.55 km.
Nicolas Caudrelier took the day in his LS 7, flying to a handicapped speed of 126.86 kph over 258.79 km for the maximum available 616 points. Jan Stastny followed in second place in an ASW 20, posting the fastest raw speed of the day at 129.42 kph over 261.93 km, which converted to 605 points once handicaps were applied. Valentin Pastoriza was third, also in an ASW 20, with a speed of 129.64 kph over 266.38 km for 604 points, the longest distance flown by any Club pilot on the day.
Gael Pischedda and Nils Zitzelsberger rounded out the top five, both flying LS 7 variants, with Sebastian Van Der Stichele close behind in another LS 7. The mid-field was tightly packed, with Max Scutchings and Michaela Křížová tied on 587 points in ASW 20s despite covering slightly different distances, and Peter Mašík just behind on 584 points.
Further down the field, results spread out considerably. Jakob Wollrath Hansen, flying the older H-201B Standard Libelle, was the slowest finisher inside the main group at 103.06 kph for 440 points, while Adam Šabľa's ASW 19b and several other gliders landed short of the full task area, reflected in lower distances and points. Raphael Lutz did not complete the task and was credited with 169 points on distance flown, and Virginie Valck did not fly.
Standard Class
The Standard class task was also an Assigned Area Task, routing through Ingelfingen and Rothenstein before finishing at Aalen-EDPA, with a task duration of one hour forty-five minutes. The nominal distance was 128.45 km, extending to 336.80 km at maximum, with an optimised distance of 231.29 km. No handicapping applied in this class.
Barna Hadi won the day in a Discus 2a, achieving the fastest speed across both classes at 134.72 kph over 235.77 km for the maximum 500 points. Roland Veronyak was second, also in a Discus 2a, just 0.15 kph slower for 499 points, making it the closest finish of the day. Lasse Edslev took third in an LS 8 at 132.91 kph, with Jacob Bøgelund Lassen fourth in a Discus 2a at 132.80 kph.
Behind the leading four, four gliders arrived within a hundredth of a kph of each other for equal fifth place on 460 points: Francois-Xavier Poisson, Theo Napoleon, Oscar Butlin and Oliver Ramsay, all flying LS 8 or LS 8 neo types at speeds around 128.7 kph. Elias Severholt Fourati and Clement De Pechy were tied just behind on 459 points, continuing a tightly bunched group of LS 8 pilots that stretched through much of the top twenty places.
At the far end of the results, Niels Van Nieuwland flew the longest distance of any Standard class pilot on the day, 257.08 km, but at a speed of 90.57 kph for 203 points, while Noud Kaaij posted the slowest completed speed of the day at 83.88 kph. Jasper Jansen, flying an LS 8 Jet, and Philip Heinrich did not complete the task, with Heinrich recording a virtual outlanding after just 8.10 km.
Summary
Both classes saw tightly contested racing on day two, with the Standard class producing the closest finish of the championship so far between Hadi and Veronyak, and the Club class showing a wide spread of results as handicapping and route choice separated the field. Weather conditions clearly supported strong speeds in both classes, with task speeds exceeding 125 kph for much of the top half of each field.
