Conditions on 12 August proved far more difficult, and both classes saw their tasks curtailed.
Club Class, Task 9
The Club class was set an Assigned Area Task with a minimum distance of 188.88 km. Peter Mašík of the Czech Republic took the win in an ASW 20 at 97.05 kph over 247.78 km, ahead of Michiel Haemels of Belgium and a tie for third between Amber Davison of Australia and Nikolai Pontoppidan of Norway. Twenty three pilots completed the task, but a substantial number, including overnight Club class leader Kim Toppari and several other pilots who had featured near the front of the standings the previous day, recorded a did not fly for the day, an indication of how tricky the conditions became as the task progressed.
Standard Class, Task 9
The Standard class task on 12 August was largely abandoned as conditions deteriorated. Only three pilots managed to start and register a scored distance: Theo Napoleon, Clement De Pechy and Francois-Xavier Poisson, all flying for France in LS 8 neo gliders, with Napoleon covering 217.28 km for the best score of the day. The remaining twenty nine pilots in the class recorded a did not fly, making this the most disrupted day of racing so far in the Standard class.
With the championship running through to 14 August, both classes still have two racing days ahead in which the overall placings can shift further.
